In Baghdad lived Ali Baba the pauper and his brother the rich man Kassim Baba. Ali Baba earns his living by collecting firewoods but due to his working nature he is not able to earn much so he frequently asks the help of his brother for money and food once in a while. His wealthy brother always looks down on his younger brother saying that he doesn’t have ambition to improve his life if he keeps on doing the work he is doing. One day while Ali baba was collecting firewood near a cliff as always, he spotted a group of thieves walking to a nearby cave. The head theif was reading something in front of the cave and a door opened up and closed back after all the thieves had gotten in. Ali Baba waited up in a nearby tree for the theieves to leave the cae. As they finally leave he walked up to the cave and read the exact same thing and a door opened up. As he entered the cave to his surprise there were so many treasures of gold and diamonds unimaginable to his eyes. Of all the things he oculd find in the cave he only took a case of gold coins and instantly became a rich man. His brother who was so curious on his brothers new fortune he was so anxious to know of how he gotten rich so fast. Due to Kassim Baba’s greedy nature he took all of the treasure in the cave. As he was about to leave the cave the group of thieves arrived and captured Kassim Baba. He was killed and cut up into pieces. Ali Baba was saddened by this but he ned to be prepared because the theives were coming to look for him for the case of gold coins.

The “bujang lapok” trio of Ramli, Sudin and Ajis go to Jalan Ampas Studio, Singapore in response to an open call audition. During their audition, they drive director Ahmad Nisfu crazy by forgetting the script and improvising with their own lines. However, the studio boss likes their natural comedic talent and tells the director that the trio are to be signed on for an oncoming film. Back at home, Ramlee is in love with a nurse, Cik Salmah, who is being watched by Sharif Dol, a villain from a neighbouring village. Sharif Dol sends his mother to propose but Salmah turns him down. The vengeful Sharif Dol burns down the entire village to get even, but is later arrested for his crime.

Tun Nila Utama, the adopted prince in the kingdom Pura Cendana, is told by the King that it is time for him to choose a bride. However, Tun Nila refuses to marry any of the women in the kingdom, claiming that they not true “females” because they have no honour. The King is angered by his claim and orders him to find a true woman, if such a person exists. Tun Nila accepts the command and swears that he will not return to Pura Chendana or shave any hair on his face until he finds her. 

Bawang Putih Bawang Merah is one of the more famous of old Malay archipelago folktales, passed down orally through the generations. Like most Malay folktales, the story is laden with lessons regarding familial values, patience in the face of adversity, and that ultimately good will be rewarded and the evil will be punished. The story centers on a pair of half-sisters named Bawang Putih and Bawang Merah. Bawang Putih is the Malay name for garlic, while Bawang Merah is the Malay name for onion or shallot. This naming convention is in the same vein as the Western fairy tale sisters Snow White and Rose Red although the previous do not get along as well. The use of these names for the female protagonist and her antagonist is symbolic of their physical similarity (both girls are beautiful) but have completely different personalities. Since the original folktale was passed on orally, different variations of the story exist. In some versions, Bawang Putih is the good and kind daughter, while Bawang Merah is the cruel and vindictive one.[1] While in the original 1959 black and white Malay movie, it is the other way around, the shallot being waterly bringing tears to the eyes and garlic being pungent.

Pak Belalang was the laziest person in Pohon Beringin village. He has a son named Belalang. It all started when Belalang managed to trick two thieves, Badan and Nyawa, who had just stolen two cows and two goats. Not knowing who the rightful owners are, Belalang asked his father to be an astrologer. When the rightful owners complained to the village headman of their missing animals, Belalang told them to seek his father’s help. Naturally Belalang and his father knew the exact locations of the missing animals. Soon the village people recognized him as a great astrologer. When the Sultan Shahrul Nizam’s treasures were stolen by Badan and Nyawa, the village headman suggested to the Sultan to consult Pak Belalang the astrologer not realizing that Pak Belalang was a fake. Pak Belalang panicked and hid himself in a cave. Through pure luck and certain turns of event, Pak Belalang managed to locate the hidden treasure. In the meantime, Sultan Baginda Masai and his ministers approached Sultan Shahrul Nizam and placed a wager: the loser shall lose his kingdom. Sultan Shahrul Nizam was given 4 riddles to solve within 3 days and 3 nights. Pak Belalang was given the heavy task of solving the riddle. Did Pak Belalang’s luck finally run out? 

Hassan was 10 years old when his father died. His mother died when he was much younger. His late father’s employer took pity and took him in under his care and guidance. However, his son Aziz felt envious and soon grew up with ill feelings towards Hassan. When they grew up, Aziz and Buang (Salleh Kamil) often find trouble with Hassan. Salmah fell in love with Hassan which made Aziz even angrier. When II was at Malaya’s doorstep, the “Askar Melayu” called for volunteers. Aziz and Hassan responded but Hassan was forced to stay to take care of the plantation by his step father. The village people started calling him a coward. Hassan decided to run away and become a soldier when he couldn’t stand the heckling any longer. Hassan proved to be an able soldier and was soon promoted to the rank of Sergeant.

This tells us the story of three bachelors, Ramli, Aziz and Sudin. Sudin fell for the girl next door, Zaiton, who came from a rich background. However, Zaiton’s mother disapproves of their relationship. Much to his dismay, Sudin tried to get his friends and mom to help but things did not turned out exactly as he had hoped for. In the meantime, Aziz fell for Sapiah, who has been abused by her step father. Sapiah’s father is in heavy debt, after gambling his money away, decided to “sell” Sapiah off to settle his debt. Sapiah tried to commit suicide by drowning herself but was rescued by Aziz who happened to be in the vicinity. Aziz brought Sapiah home but was confronted and beaten by Sapiah’s step father. As for Ramli, the landlady Normah fell in love with him but was too shy to express her true feelings. Ramli not knowing of Normah’s true feelings, tried his best to find a suitable partner but was tricked repeatedly by con and opportunist women. Did Sudin managed to marry Zaiton? Aziz and Sapiah? Ramli and Normah?

Aduka and Teruna are sworn brothers. They have been tasked to keep the law and order according to the Islam ways of the village, Semerah Padi. The village Headmaster has a daughter, Dara, whom has fallen for Aduka secretly. The Headmaster decided to marry his daughter to Teruna not knowing about the relationship between Dara and Aduka. The lovebirds were heart broken but decided to keep things to themselves, Dara not wanting to go against her father’s wishes and Aduka not wanting to hurt his brother. The country was attacked by the pirates and Teruna was sent by the Headmaster to render his services to the Sultan. Whilst Teruna was away, Semerah Padi was attacked by Borek and his gang and Dara was kidnapped. Aduka managed to kill Borek and rescued her. With love and passion overcoming their emotions, they committed adultery. Teruna came back victorious and discovered what had happened. What was Teruna’s reaction? What happened to Dara and Aduka?

Summoned into the Sultan’s court, Sabarudin is requested to clarify the value of precious stone belonging to the Sultan.

Hang Tuah (The Legend of Hang Tuah) is a 1959 Malay feature film directed by Phani Majmudar. It is the first Malay film to be fully shot in Eastman color film.It was released to public on 28 January 1956. The film was based on the legendary Admiral Hang Tuah of Malacca,and his 4 sworn brothers;Hang Jebat,Hang Kasturi,Hang Lekir and Hang Lekiu.This film has received ‘Best Musical Score’ award at the 3rd Asian Film Festival in Hong Kong,in 1956 and official screening at 7th Berlin International Film Festival in 1957. 

Filem ini mengisahkan Amir mengahwini Fatimah di mana perkahwinan mereka tidak direstui apabila pada hari perkahwinan mereka kakak Amir meninggal dunia sebaik sahaja Fatimah menjejakkan kaki ke rumah Amir. Sejak dari itu, Ibu Amir (Seniwati Siti Tanjung Perak) selalu mencari salah Fatimah dan cuba memisahkan mereka dan merancang untuk menjodohkan Amir dengan Rosni. 

Cerita ini mengisahkan Zul (P. Ramlee) bercinta dengan Juita (Normadiah) tetapi dihalang oleh abang Juita, Johan (Nordin Ahmad) sehingga suatu hari Zul telah dicaci oleh Johan bersama rakannya (Yusof Latif). Akibat daripada itu, Zul membawa diri menjadi kelasi kapal. sehinggalah Zul terdampar di pantai Pulau Kazambo dan berjumpa dengan Melati (Latifah Omar) anak kepada penghulu Pulau Kazambo (Daeng Idris).
